Dr. Michael Higginbotham was raised in Oxford, Michigan and is a graduate of Oxford High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree and Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry.
Following dental school, Dr. Higginbotham completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He also completed a year of general surgery residency and his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Detroit Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. Higginbotham received extensive training in many aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery including dental extractions, implants, dentoalveolar surgery, anesthesia, complex facial trauma, facial infections, and surgery to correct deformities of the face and jaw.
Dr. Higginbotham is board certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has certification in basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS). He is also a staff physician at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he is actively involved in educating residents in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Higginbotham is also a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Michigan Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and has been featured in HOUR magazine as a top oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
Dr. Higginbotham spends his free time with his wife and children and enjoys playing and watching hockey.
