Dr. John was born in Jamaica and was raised in Toronto. He graduated from from the University of Toronto with degrees in Chemistry and economics, he then attended the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry graduating with honors He completed a general practice residency at the Medical College of Ohio where he was awarded Otolaryngology Resident of the Year
Dr. John went on to complete a 6 year of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) while obtaining his medical degree from Wayne State University with honors. He completed his general surgery internship at St. John’s Medical Center
Upon completion of his training, he became Vice Chief of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery at the DMC, section Chief at St John’s Medical Center, and eventually Program Director of the OMFS residency at the DMC. He continues to work with residency programs
Dr. John is a board-certified Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon and a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). Currently, he is the Medical director of facial trauma at Trinity Health Oakland
He is on staff at Trinity Health Oakland, Livonia, Corewell Health Royal Oak, and Henry Ford hospital
Outside of work, Dr. John spends time participating in or watching sports especially watching his kids compete
